FAQ's

How much underlay do I need?

Sometimes less than the amount of carpet needed. This is because when ordering a carpet you would normally choose the appropriate width available and there may be a little waste. But underlay is meant to be cut and joined, you can therefore order an amount closer to the actual size of the area.

How do I join underlay?

It is always best to tape joins to avoid movement, both during and after installation. A cloth single sided tape is best, but a budget priced tape will often suffice.

Which way up do I lay the underlay?

If there is a printed side, then this is usually laid uppermost. If there is no printing, but one side is relatively plain and the other side coloured, it is usually the plain side uppermost. If the underlay has a paper backing, this is laid uppermost.
